Two words verbs
Hello friends welcome, here am posting some very
useful “two words verbs” with example that are
commonly used in our daily life conversations.
1. Ask for- to try
to obtain by requesting
Example: he asked for help. Or you
can ask for what you need.
2. Back out – withdraw
from a commitment.
Example: He had
promised me to come today but later he backed out from
his words.
3. Bear on- be
relevant to (something)
Example-Does this
book bear on the same subject as that?
4. Bear out-to be
patient with someone or something
Example- just bear out
with me while I finish downloading this file.
5. Blow out-to
expel a current of air, as from the mouth.
Example- on her
birthday she blew out fifteen
candles on her cake
6. Cry out- to
scream or shout aloud.
Example- she cried out
for help when she saw a snake.
7. Count on-to relay
on, depend on.
Example- you can
count on my help.
8. Cut down-to
alter by removing extra or additional.
Example- if you want
to reduce your weight you must cut down on starchy and
oily food.
9. Draw back- to
retreat
Example- I can’t
draw back from my
promise.
10. Drop in-visit informally
and spontaneously.
Example – I dropped in
on Lisa on the way of market.
11. Dwell on – to
think, speak, or write at length.
Example- In his
speech he dwelt on the importance of education.
12. Explain away-to
dismiss or minimize the significance of something by explanation.
Example-although
he was at fault yet he tried to explain away his mistake
